BBL Surgery

BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) Surgery

BBL surgery, or the “Brazilian Butt Lift,” is a form of fat transfer that results in a more voluptuous, perky, and attractive buttock. This procedure is used to fight the effects of aging or to enhance a patient’s natural shape.

While many of our patients in Montgomery County, Bucks County, or Philadelphia are interested in the natural-looking results of BBL plastic surgery, they often have concerns about this procedure. We always answer their questions so that they can go into their BBL surgery with confidence.

How Does BBL Work?

During this procedure, the surgeon removes fat from one body part, such as the abdomen, thighs, back, or hips, via liposuction. This provides a slimming effect for that body part. Next, the harvested fat cells are processed and purified. They are then injected into the buttocks in between the muscle layers, which increases their chance of survival in the body. This transfer also creates new collagen that improves the texture of the skin.

Am I A Good Candidate for BBL Surgery?

You should be in good health before considering BBL. Additionally, thinner patients may need to gain weight. When you come into our Philadelphia Surgi-Center, we will conduct a basic physical and examine your health history to determine if you are the right fit for this procedure.

What Can I Expect During Recovery?

After BBL surgery, there may be bruising and swelling for several weeks. You will wear a special compression garment 24 hours a day to support the tissue and facilitate healing. Additionally, the transferred fat cells can be reabsorbed by the body if crushed or compressed, so we recommend that patients do not put too much weight on their buttocks for approximately six weeks following the procedure. For example, you should not sleep on your back or sit for long periods.

How Soon Will I See Results from My BBL Surgery?

You will see permanent results from your surgery after four to six months, and since the transferred fat acts exactly as your natural fatty deposits do, these results will last a lifetime. If you gain or lose weight, however, the fat on your buttocks may be affected.

How Will My Results Look?

Your results will vary based on your unique body type. We do provide photos of our successful BBL procedures online at our body results page, however.

Will BBL Surgery Leave a Scar?

Scarring from BBL is minimal, and the surgeon will hide the scars so that they are not visible when wearing a bikini. Patients usually receive four scars of 1 cm or less, two from the liposuction and two from the fat transfer. After several months, these scars will lighten in color and flatten to better blend in with your skin.
